Reviews and Testimonials
"Joanie Taylor Hess and Annie Taylor Jornlin have created a quaint, small-town setting for their series, populated by likable and fun characters. . . . Good-natured humor is an integral part of this book, as evidenced by the table of contents, where chapter headings include 'The Travesty of Uneven Egg Rolls' and 'When Love Is Over the Top … of a Casket.' . . . this is a fun PG romance novel that would go well with a cup of cocoa and snuggly blanket on a lazy weekend day. The characters, positive story line, and fun sense of humor will have fans of light romance looking for the next installment in the series."

"Befitting a tale about a passionate baker obsessed with food, the authors sprinkle tasty items throughout their story: cream puffs, egg rolls, pumpkin and banana cream pies, Turkish custard, and Parisian passion fruit perfection cake all make appearances. This romance, the first of a planned six, should entertain fans of the genre, particularly those with a Christian bent."

"I haven't finished the story quite yet but am really enjoying the sheer humor and tom-foolery of its characters. There is something warm about the setting of the small town and it's inhabitants. A pleasant and humorous read so far and will update this when I finish it!"

“Sweet. A little bit of romantic suspense. And all so good.
Sometimes you just want to sit down and genuinely enjoy a good hearted and good natured book. The main character, Molly, is very relatable and her sincerity is comforting. There's also some great slap-stick drama with some exes that gets things exciting. Molly and Phil are both characters that you'd want to be friends with and you can't help but root for the best for them. Great read. I can't wait for more in the series.”

“Refreshing love story with lots of humor
I am not much of a fiction person, so I wasn't sure if I would like this book, but I couldn't put it down. The characters come alive. I found myself drawn into the story, rooting for certain characters and devouring the pages so I could learn more about others. This book was a breath of fresh air that I didn't want to end. I have become friends with Molly, her beau, his family, and the other characters in the cake shop; and I eagerly look forward to the next installment.”

"Heartwarming and entertaining, Molly Takes The Cake is a delightfully charming romance. . .
This cleverly written romance follows Molly and Phil on their sometimes hilarious, often touching misadventures, as they navigate the tricky waters of love, relationships, and friendship surrounded by a cast of unique characters. Surprising plot twists and hilarious scenes, including a fantastically described wedding cake fight, are balanced by poignant emotion and an underlying theme of faith in God. Molly and Phil must face their pasts in order to get to the future they both clearly deserve.
The story is complete in itself, but it is only the beginning of what seems to be a very promising series. The authors have left plenty of room to expand on the world of River Oaks and its many memorable characters. Wonderfully expressive writing, captivating characters, and a richly constructed story make this book a great read for any romance fan."

“This book Molly Takes the Cake :)
I loved this book! it is a funny, inspiring, clean, romantic, suspenseful and an all around delightful read! I really enjoyed the realness of Molly. She's a Believer with real life issues. Life didn't suddenly turn into "nothing but roses" just because she became a Christian. Wait until the first wedding scene… I was laughing so hard! Ii wish the next book in the series was out already. I will be purchasing book #2 as soon as it's available.”
